Persian Cats: Everything You Need to Know

Persian cats: Household pet par excellence

Persian cats

Persian cats are one of the most famous breeds in the United States and all over Europe for their aristocratic appearance, beauty and their exceptional calm and gentle character.

Well known for their gentle and kind personality and their long hair, Persian cats have very attractive characteristics.  They are great companions for almost everyone, and are not very demanding.  Unlike other breeds, such as the Siamese breed, Persian breeds require very little attention.

 Characteristics of Persian cats

Although white is the colour normally associated with Persian cats, they actually exist in a variety of other colours as well.
They are divided into seven colour categories: silver, solid, shaded, tabby and smoky, bicoloured and Himalayan.  Regardless of the color of the Persian cat, it is the long, flowing coat that makes it stand out the most.

 Persian Cats: Fur Care

In order to keep their fur and hair healthy, Persian cats should be cleaned daily with a wire comb, otherwise their fur can be embellished, resulting in the formation of fur balls. You should also wash Persian cats regularly to protect their fur.

Baths are most effective when your cat is small because they are used to them. Bathing should never be neglected as it will help keep your cat's coat clean and healthy.

Although some breeds can keep their fur alone, Persians cannot. Her coat is long and thick, and you must care for her every day to make sure her coat stays healthy.
Persian Cats Breeding

 Persian cats: The ultimate pet

Persian cats should always be kept inside the house to protect their coat. They can easily damage their coat when left outside.
The Persian breed is gentle and kind and gets along well with everyone, including children.
They have a pleasant voice and are happy to hear it in the public, especially for their educators.
Thanks to their voice and eyes, they can communicate very well with their owners.

She is very funny and friendly, and with that she does not require much attention like the rest of the breeds. However, they love attention and love to be admired.

Unlike other cats, they do not climb or jump much at all.  They are not destructive either; they just like to be admired and to lie down.  Most of the time, Persian cats like to bask in the sun and show others how beautiful they are.

Although most breeds can be kept indoors or outdoors, Persian cats should always be kept indoors and never be allowed to leave the house.
By keeping them indoors, you protect their coat and also protect them from common diseases and parasites.  You also don't have to worry about cars or dogs if you keep your pet indoors.

How to take care of your Persian cat?

Because of their abundant hair, their eyes accumulate impurities that must be delicately removed with a cotton pad soaked in warm water. It is also important to check the inside of the ears on a regular basis to avoid infections due to an overproduction of earwax.

Prevention is better than cure: they can be cleaned with suitable products on the advice of the veterinarian.
This magnificent breed, which loves human contact and attaches itself very quickly to its masters, nevertheless requires a lot of attention and above all care!

To ensure that your Persian animal remains in good health, you should always take it to the vet once a year.  If they are well cared for, for example by grooming, vaccinations and examinations,

Persian cats can live up to 20 years.  You should know that eyes are a common feature of Persians.  Their eyes are very large and can sometimes be too large for the cat to clean them.

This is a common health problem in the breed and should be checked regularly to prevent it from getting out of control.

 Comparison to other breeds

When you compare Persians to other races, you will notice that Persians are among the easiest to keep.  You don't have to worry about things like jumping or climbing, because Persians don't like to do that.

All you have to do is feed and groom your cat daily.  Although grooming can be a lot of work in the long run, it's worth it when you have a beautiful, healthy Persian cat.

 Persian Cats Breeding

Breeding cats should be regularly examined by a veterinarian to diagnose any hereditary disease. If you purchase your cat from a breeder, the results of medical examinations of the parents can be provided.
Try to avoid unprofessional breeders who offer "undocumented pedigree cats" at a bargain price. As a rule, they usually attach little importance to health care, animal welfare and good nutrition.
This lack of care and attention can result in heavy costs for you if your cat develops certain diseases.
