The Siamese cat: A companion with many qualities
The Siamese cat is undoubtedly the most famous of the house cats; its elegance and its
character apart make it a companion with many qualities.
As
long as one knows how to respect his strong personality and his desires, the
Siamese never disappoints his master, to whom he is very close, and devotes to
his family an endless affection. Known to be very communicative with humans.
The legend of Siamese cats
These
mysterious Siamese cats are from Thailand. They have always been a known type
of cat, some of them live in shiny royal homes. In the past, Siamese cats were
supposed to protect royal residences and monasteries from twisted brains. These
cats are thought to bring good luck to their owners.
In 1884, the
first lines of Siamese cats began to make their way to England, when they were
presented as a gift to a British general. From there, they went to America.
Today, Siamese cats are considered one of the most popular species.
Description and characteristics of Siamese cat
The Siamese
possesses a very specific physique and a dress which makes it possible to
recognize it at first glance:
- Physiognomy:
It's a cat with an oriental physiognomy.
- Eyes: The
almond-shaped eyes are tapered and inclined towards the nose, are sapphire blue
in colour and give him a deep and unique look.
- Head: Head
is triangular, with a long muzzle *Ears: Ears are triangular and wide at the
base.
- Coat: The
basic colour can go from cream to grey, sometimes tending towards brown with
chocolate tips (chocolate point).
- The legs:
Small and oval shaped.
- The tail: Thin, long and pointed.
- The hair: Very fine, flattened to the body.

Character and behaviour of the Siamese cat
The Siamese
cat is very affectionate and needs a lot of attention from his owner and loves
his presence and his attachment, as well as his sincerity without limits.
He also
tends to follow his owner wherever he goes and even talk to him at length.
But he does
not tolerate solitude. If left alone for long periods of time, he will be very
unhappy.
He is a good
companion for individuals or families with children, as long as they let him
play without disturbance.
It is a
smart cat. He comes as soon as he is called and quickly understands the
prohibitions after a particular training.
The Siamese
cat is full of energy and very funny. Thanks to his great agility, he will not
hesitate to run and jump everywhere to reach his imaginative prey. To keep them
busy and avoid damage, it is best to leave toys at home.
Siamese cats and foreigners
Although
devoted and faithful to its owner, the Siamese cat is jealous if it coexists
with another animal. It is also advisable to give him a firm and fair education
in order to learn the rules of respect.
The Siamese
cat likes comfort and security. It is an affectionate cat; its temperament is
strong and very attached to its family and its master. However, he is
distrustful and sometimes jealous of strangers.
Siamese can
be fierce with strangers: that's why it is so important to provide them with
small places to hide in the house where they can isolate themselves during
visits. They adapt well to the life of the apartment, loving comfort, but the
garden is still recommended because it is full of energy.
Like a dog,
the Siamese will defend its master if it feels that the latter has been
attacked by a presumed aggressor.
Living conditions
The Siamese
cat can adapt to most living environments, as long as it has something to
occupy itself with and enjoys a certain freedom of movement in a secure
environment. They can therefore lead a very happy and fulfilling life in an
apartment if they are regularly stimulated, have the opportunity to explore
their surroundings and remain active.
Siamese
people also need a clean space where they can isolate themselves when they feel
the need to do so and find some peace and quiet.
Care and well-being
The Siamese
is a short-haired cat, so its coat needs almost no maintenance. It is however
recommended to brush it from time to time.
These cats
love the warmth and are always looking for a little resting place near the
radiator or in the warmest places in the house. A heating pad will undoubtedly
be a great success with your cat! In any case, do not leave your companion
exposed to draughts.
